Solar Powered Water Pumps

Water Solutions for Agriculture & Horticulture

Pump water from any remote location without needing access to electricity.

Works Anywhere

Solar powered pumps can operate in any remote location, pumping water at high pressure without needing access to electricity.

Simple To Install

Place SPS pump beside water source and insert the suction pipe into the water. Connect your outlet pipe delivering water to your tanks/troughs. Switch it on.

Zero Running Costs

The battery reserve means the pump can operate any time of the day and overnight as it is not powered directly from the solar panel.

How Solar Powered Water Pumps Work

    • The SPS solar pump is placed beside the water source (up to 5m above the level of water). It can be placed on a concrete surface/slab and bolted down if desired.
    • A 5m long suction pipe is supplied as standard. The end of the suction pipe, featuring a heavy-duty stainless steel filter and a foot-valve, is placed into the water source.
    • The outlet pipe which delivers water to your tanks/troughs must be supplied by the customer. This is then connected to the water outlet on the SPS pump.
    • A large deep-cycle battery is supplied with each pump. Simply connect the battery using our quick attach clips and the pump will start running.
    • Water is then sucked in through the suction pipe and pumped out through the outlet pipe at high pressure.
    • Once the water tanks/troughs are full, the pressure will rise in the pressure vessel and the pressure switch will cut out the pump. Operating pressures range from 40-80psi depending on the selected model. Pressure is easily adjusted on each model.
    • The pump will continue to operate automatically. A typical pump cut-out pressure is 40psi and a cut-in pressure of 30psi.
    • The solar panel keeps the battery charged which powers the pump.
    • The solar panel requires daylight only which means the SPS pump can operate at any time of the year.
    • A heavy-duty controller is used which maintains correct battery voltage. If the battery is fully charged, excess solar power will not be allowed charge the battery any further. This prevents over charging of the battery ensuring the longest battery life possible.
    • The battery can also be used to power secondary 12v devices such as an electric fence.
    • The battery reserve means the pump can operate any time of the day and overnight as it is not powered directly from the solar panel.
    • The lid is easily locked for security.
    • 12 month warranty with all models.

Simple Installation:

    • Place SPS pump beside water source and insert the suction pipe into the water.
    • Connect your outlet pipe delivering water to your tanks/troughs.
    • Switch it on by connecting the battery supplied - That's it! - High pressure water on demand.

Testimonials

Jonathan Woods

I'm extremely happy with my SPS pump. I researched and considered buying systems from the UK and America before finding theirs when I was browsing thr Irish Farmers Journal in my dentist's waiting room! Not only was the SPS a far better build quality but it was very well priced. I'm using it to supply spring water to a feeder tank up a hill behind my house. It's fast, it's compact, it's quiet and it's completely reliable. What more could you ask for? Katie and Bryan were great to deal with and I'm glad to have supported an Irish solution to a global need. Many thanks SPS.

Noel Murphy

We bought two of these systems the start of this summer and had it supplying 160 dairy stock. It worked very well and is a great product.

John Crimmins

Have been using this pump for nearly three years. Was able to split the farm up for strip grazing and is keeping 70 cattle with water. Pumping nearly 1km to the back of the farm from the water supply. Bryan always more than helpful with any problems I had. Never with out water. Saved putting in ESB connection and saving on ESB bills. Great product and great service, even after three years.

Caoimhe Fleming

Great product, makes my life so much simpler. Gives me great confidence that my cattle have plenty of water and aren't at risk in the river.

Micheal O Leary

A great job. Very simple. Both economic and environmentally friendly to run. Would recommend this product to everyone.

Andrew Fyfe

Cracking pump, free water and power source all year round. Does exactly what we need it to do. The backup from Bryan is second to none as well.

Jimmy Walsh

Great system for pumping water for out farm with no electricity. Saves a lot of time when not having to draw water for paddock system. Great service from Bryan for last 3 years.

Pauric O Gorman

Delighted with this product. It has given us great peace of mind knowing our milking cows are constantly getting water. As before our pump was not able to fill the troughs quick enough for the cows at the far side of the farm. Also supplies power to the fencer.

Mary Larkin

We purchased a sps water pump back in 2019 fantastic piece of equipment, has freed up so much of our time otherwise spent drawing water to stock. Brian and Katie so helpful and a real pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend this product, a very cost effective and worthwhile investment.

Michael Nolan

Very happy with the solar pump. Very easy to install. Excellent customer service. It has made life alot easier on the out farm. I now have it split into two fields with a quality and consistent supply of water to both fields. No cattle entering the river anymore. Would recommend.

Stephen Connaughton, Co. Galway

Water flow is just as good even 700m away from the pump. We’ve installed six water troughs and sub-divided the farm. It’s also powering the battery fencer which saves moving a portable fencer around and regularly recharging the battery. We’ve much more flexibility with the out-farm now.

Joseph O’Reilly, Co. Westmeath

very farmer should have an SPS solar water pump. It provides an independent and reliable water source. I’ve already noticed improved animal performance and it has allowed me to stock heavier.

Conor O’Leary, Co. Cork

Judging by the water flow alone, you’d think it was a mains water supply”. 55 weanlings supplied from a pond from September to 15th December and again from 15th January to Mid April before closing for silage. Solar panel always kept the battery fully charged even though, due to overshadowing trees, it only had access to sunlight from 12 noon onwards each day. The pump just worked away itself and has revolutionised the potential for this block of land.

Brian Hogan, Co. Galway

I’ve an out-farm where 40-50 cattle were drinking from the river. The SPS solar water pump allowed me to fence off the river and use a paddock grazing system with numerous water troughs. This allowed be to benefit from the GLAS scheme as well as improve grass management on the out-farm. I’m very happy with this system and would highly recommend to anyone.

Michael Burke, Co. Galway

It’s an independent water source and it’s free energy. It has allowed me to boost my water supply in a far-away section of the farm and introduce five extra drinking points. This means less walking for the cows and more time grazing, so it has already proven its value.

Aidan Power, Co. Tipperary

I was letting cattle back over a few fields to get to water. Cattle were mucking up the land and then letting them into a drain was very dangerous. I knew when we saw this product, we were sorted.

Eamon Morris, Co. Galway

30-40 cattle were drinking from a drain in a set-stocking grazing system. The drain is fenced off now and we will install three water troughs. We plan on increasing numbers now to 50-60 cattle.

Damien Haverty, Co. Galway

We can carry more stock now on our out-farm. We couldn’t divide the farm before but now we increased from three to seven divisions on the farm by installing four water troughs and it makes grass management much easier. Cattle are thriving better.

Ciaran Coone, Co. Galway

t’s pumping the water 1.5km and supplying 140 cattle. It’s as good as a mains water supply.

Denis Nyhan, Co. Cork

With five extra water troughs supplied on a remote part of the farm, the cows now don’t have to travel long distances for water, meaning less walking and more time in the paddock eating grass. We’ll be getting another solar water pump next year.

Michael McKeon, Co. Westmeath

I purchased SPS solar water pump in June 2016. I’m pumping water from a stream on an out-farm and I’m very happy with the solar water pump.

Matt Brennan, Co. Kilkenny

I’m supplying 53 cattle with water from a stream. The stream is fenced off now and water is supplied to multiple water troughs. I now have more options with grazing and it makes management that bit easier.

Jim, Co. Tipperary

It has taken the pressure off my existing water pump and allowed me to install extra water troughs. It has allowed strip grazing of fields and has given greater flexibility.

John O’Dwyer, Co. Kilkenny

Before, we had three drinking points from the river and cattle had to travel back over fields to access the water. The river is fenced off now for GLAS and water is supplied to the cattle with six water troughs. I’m very happy with it.

Cathal Belton

Bought a solar pump this spring, to supply outside land that only had access to one main drinking point. Now this has allowed us to put in paddocks with a constant supply of fresh water. This is a long narrow farm, so the pump is well capable of pumping the required distance of 1.2km. Bryan and Katie were extremely helpful and the solar pump is very easy to setup.

James O Connor

Very impressive system. Having discussed my farm layout and different options available I purchased one 2 years ago. Now I have an out farm in a paddock system with troughs pumping water uphill for about 700 metres. from having one batch of cattle getting water at a stream I now have cows bulls and heifers divided into bunches. I would recommend.

Brian Quinn

Excellent product very happy with my investment. It’s pumping water too 3 different 100 gallon drinkers and powering electric fencer. Should of bought one sooner. Well done great product.

Damien O’ Shea

Great product and excellent service. Bryan was very helpful. Does what it says on the tin, I’m pumping water 900 m into 7 troughs and 80 head of cattle. It’s also powering my electric fence around approximately 30 acres. I also put it on the Sheds over the winter, kept 100 head of cattle in water all winter except for one very dark overcast day. Very impressive.

Brendan Kelly

Bought a solar pump early summer and it works prefect. Very easy to set up and no problems with it since. It also powers my electric fence and I hope to use it during the winter to pump water into the shed. A very good product.

Peter McDermott

I have been using the solar pump for 3 years now and it has worked prefect. Even in last years heat wave. It helped us put in more paddocks and bring water to them all. This help increase the cattle numbers on the out farm. Well done to Bryan and Katie on developing a great product and Thanks again.

Roddy McNamee

I found Solar Pump Solutions to be very customer oriented. They were extremely helpful and very prompt with delivery. I’m very happy to recommend them.
